Les Hoyland writes about ex-Yelloway coaches converted to car transporters and also includes some excellent photographs which were taken by Mike Greenwood. (Thanks Les);

"I have some information and photographs about a few ex Yelloway coaches. Some of these coaches were bought and converted to stock car transporters.

7072DK above was bought from Yelloways in 1974 by Finch, Hr. Ince Nr. Wigan then later converted to stock car transporter by Dave Hodgson. 7073DK below was bought by Stuart Smith, Rochdale garage owner, he used it until 1980 and then bought NDK166G.

7075DK was also used as a transporter by Brian Wallace, the bus was sold when he was killed racing...it went down south to Welwyn Garden City..

BDK706C (ex Creams) and KDK804F above were also used ..don't know where these went to...

NDK164G/165G and 166G were all bought from Yelloway during the winter of 1980 by Dave Hodgson, Frankie Wainman and Stu Smith... all top stock car stars... 164G was later sold to Leicester driver Mark Tapping, lost track of it then... NDK165G is still in use today with Frankie Wainman...

NDK164G above was originally owned by Dave Hodgson (212) of Mirfield, Yorkshire but is seen here with it's second owner Mark Tapping (412).

Above left, Year 1980 and Frankie Wainman (driving) had just bought
NDK165G. Above right, a few years later Frankie's coach with a different paint job.

Above, a few years later again when his son Frankie junior started racing (515).  Below, this shot was taken a couple of years ago and the coach still looks the same today. It is still doing a fine A.E.C. reliable service for Frankie 24 years later and 34 years since it first went into service with Yelloway. Now that is an excellent "track record".
